Stitched Stories
Four inspiring tales of friendship and courage, starring characters I made by hand before I wrote a word about them.
Learn moreI'm eleven, and I write about friendship, courage, and the small brave moments that change everything. My first book came out when I was nine — there are two now, and more waiting their turn. Some of my characters start life as crochet toys, made by hand before I know who they are.
Both are collections of short stories written for readers who are just discovering how good a book can be.

My first book — a collection of kids' tales with blanks left in them for you to fill in as you read.
Learn moreI'm drafting something new right now — and you get a say in who it's about.
Vote for the characterI didn't write these to make money. All the profit from Stitched Stories and Joyful Journeys goes to Seattle Angels, who support kids and families in foster care — because every kid should get to visit story-land.
The kind that gets tested, and holds anyway.
Usually quiet. Usually smaller than people expect.
Ordinary places with something extraordinary tucked inside.
Characters who end the story different from how they started.
“My head is always full of stories, characters, and crochet ideas. Sometimes they even keep me awake at night! I hope my stories inspire you to imagine, create, and believe that every little idea can become something wonderful.”— Kaira Bhatia
I've crocheted five characters and only one of them has a story. You decide who gets written about next.
Cast a voteFavourite story, boring bit, character you wanted more of — honest feedback makes the next book better.
Leave feedbackI'd love to come and read from my books, or teach a group of kids to crochet their own character. I'm especially keen to work with local public libraries.
